Straight striped sunflower. Attracts cardinals, woodpeckers and blue jays. Similar to black oil sunflower, but its larger size makes it harder for smaller birds like sparrows and blackbirds to crack open. If you are inundated with these species and don't want to switch to safflower because you will lose some birds (like blue jays and woodpeckers), this can be a good compromise. However, if you are having problems with grackles and starlings, they will still eat striped sunflower and you should consider switching to straight safflower, at least temporarily.
